Hi i am going to look at a horsebox on sunday (have had a trailer for the last 4 years) Now i thought i read somewhere that the legislation has changed on the indicators, something about them having to be down the side and protruding. I also need info on the LEZ testing and the mirrors, i think the mirrors came into force on lorries reg after 2000. can anyone enlighten, or is there any other things i need to check for thanks

anything bigger than 3.5 after sept 2001 needs a limiter set at 56mph 2000 need wide angle mirrors, lez for inside the m25 most lorrys made after 2001 will be complyant until 2012 (euro 3) and then newer than 2006 (euro 4) after 2012 some older lorrys can be adapted and some will pass as is for up to 2012 but check before you buy as it can be very expensive or not possible, i think you can put the reg number into the TFL website and it tells you, indicators need to be visable from a angle and the side markers need to light up now not just refectors.. you should be ok if the thing has had a recent mot (plating ) as they would have done the up grades to get a pass.. hope that helps

Also the law changed in May re skirts/crash bars (is that the right term), they have to be a certain height from the floor and the front wheel now. not sure what - but Older lorries have been affected by this.
