Hi everyone. I am new to the whole forum thing so be gentle with me. I am looking for some tips for training myself and my horse to compete in endurance events. If anyone can point me to some threads I would be eternally grateful. Feel free to offer any advice you may have as well.

I think the forummer "spookypony" does endurance? Perhaps you could search out some of her threads/PM her for ideas? Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head.

Welcome :), and while I have no advice/knowledge about endurance events, I hope they (here) treat you kindly and leave you without teeth marks :D

Try the search option on here for endurance as that might throw up previous threads.

Thank you so much thats the kind of stuff Im after.
Whats the "what a man" fuss all about?

Don't really know, but some of the HHO:ers perhaps have a tendency to act like this

whenever a new man turns up on HHO.

Personally I'm just smiley addicted, so I will take any opportunity I can to use a smiley.

to HHO.

Ah well, I'd you're in the south west get yourself along to golden horseshoe in may. If you've not been already, its one of the premier rides in the calendar, so you should have a fab time. If you can't get your horse there I recommend volunteering. Rides are always in need of help and you can meet people, learn a lot and see some of our top horse/rider combos in action! Horse sounds fab, could be a cracker. fingers crossed!

Welcome aboard .Of course it was a big mistake announcing that you are a man on here. ;) .As for endurance riding,I shall be watching with interest. Bob the nota cob and I are now grounded and need a new avenue to pursue equestrian insanity.I think that to get to the top in this you need to be a very light rider so that has me totaly bang to rights, also if there is a single drop of arab blood in Bobs lineage I would be utterly amazed. You dont hear a lot about endurance riding on here ,and I suspect that it is a bit like Triathlon. Really nice folk who just get quietly on with doing their own thing(and welcome newcommers). I have also ,as someone who studies and has a keen interest in Equine nutrition and physiology, found that the endurance riders have a lot to offer the rest of us with regard to horse care and especialy feeding. .......PS I am mailing you a cricket bat to fend off the HHo harpies.

Thanks for the bat I will keep it close at hand.
There is a whole lot of me so the lightweight riders are about to get a shock (I mean laugh but go with me).
So far the endurance riders I have spoken to and met seem to be a great bunch.

Yep ,I found the same thing with the triathlon crowd . I guess that if it is comparable ,then nobody is going to laugh but they will help. I would add on a more subjective note that the best trainer of Arab horses for racing ,that I have ever know now does endurance riding. The Arab racing thing turned into a pile of **** .But endurance speaks for its self. You cant fake it,.Incidentaly my trainer friend works from a little yard in whytleafe and unless you knew the genius at work there you probably wouldnt think of putting your horse there .

Welcome! Have no endurance advice but want to warn you..... the one question no man now dare ask on here is anything about jods/breeches. You will be hounded for requests for pictures of you in riding attire....
