Ok, before anyone starts ranting/raving etc I'm helping someone out. If you can't be of any help/offer advice etc please don't post.
A neighbour, well, she's about a mile down the road, called me and asked if I would go and have a look at her bitch who whelped on tuesday, as she didn't seem well.
I've been down and she really doesn't seem well at all. I urged her to make a vet appointment, and I'm running them to my vet at 4pm.
Now, here's what the bitch is like;
* She hasn't really eaten properly since giving birth.
* She's very depressed/lethargic, and if she can be encouraged to come out of bed she wanders around aimlessly.
* She's now throwing up, only with not eating she's only throwing up fluid.
* She isn't interested in cleaning up particularly, the pups look 'grubby' though she is letting them feed and cleaning their bums, it just seems such an effort.
It wasn't mentioned but I shouldn't think she saw a vet after giving birth.
She doesn't seem hot, isn't panting etc, but I didn't think to take my thermometer with me.
Like I said, I'm running the little family up to my vet at 4pm but I just wondered if anyone had come across this before.
If she wasn't vomiting I'd just say she was very tired, but what could it be? Retained placenta or fetus?
From her back end is a reddy/browny colour and doesn't smell....I was dabbing T-roll on the poor old girl and having a good sniff, aren't I lovely!
