A new horse has moved into the stable next to mine today & my mare has turned into a devil horse. She really doesn't seem to like this horse!! She is normally a lovely soft natured girl ( the one that gets on with every horse ) but she was trying to attack this horse and then turned on me when I went to feed her. She is probably just unsettled but so shocked at her behaviour . Has anyone else's horse taken an instant dislike to their neighbour and did it settle?

My big Wamblood and my 36 year old gelding are fine with comings and goings either side of them. Our little cob less so, she pulls a few faces and does a bit of lunging at the bars for a few days normally.

However a new mare moved in a couple of weeks ago and its war. The new mare has been kicking the wall so hard we have had to hang rugs over the bars so they cant see each other. Two weeks or more on and still no sign of it settling.

Not an uncommon thing. Give her a few days to come to terms with the new arrival and you will probably find that things calm down

Yup, my mare has a strop pretty much at any horse that pokes its head out the stable next to her (it changes alot!)
She should settle, give it a bit more time :)

Yeah the big mare I ride hates the horse next to her to the right with a passion. She's normally laid back, calm, sweet and well mannered. However, when she is tied up outside her stable, she pins her ears back, stamps her feet.... She loves her neighbour to the left though :confused:
not uncommon though don't worry.
