I am on the verge of buying a 3.5t horsebox. I like a 2nd hand Alexanders which is very low mileage and in pristine condition, but it is 4 years old and needs some additions-hob/sink and uprate to 3.9t. This is adding another £3k to price. I am also thinking of having one built by Owens for the same money. Has anyone got any recommendations either way please? I am in Norfolk so Owens are nearer. Budget of £30k.

Can't help with recommendation, but I'm looking too. I want a 4.5 ton tho, and they are few and few between so think I'll have to go new .

I have a secondhand Alexander's, higher mileage and older than you are looking at. Very happy with it - high quality. Alexander's have good reputation.
As with any new vehicle you are paying a premium. But on the other hand you could get the exact spec you want.

I'd get one build personally as I like to put my own stamp on things. That being said I'm not 30k up to get a nice new horsebox - but didn't want to read and run :)
