hi. im new to this so hope this ends up in the right place!
just a little bit of market research.
how many of you, who are new to horse ownership or are thinking of buying your first horse would attend a "horse care basics" training day/weekend?
just an idea im looking into!

It might be worth putting a flyer in local riding schools and see what response you get - this might be the sort of thing parents with pony-mad children would be interested in?

I run BHS Horse Owners' Certificate training and exams and I get a good take up from new owners/PC parents etc - have to say I'd love to get a few more actual horseowners along, riding club people etc, but sadly they think they know it all already :D I certainly find it a boost to my earnings but it is a small part of what I do, I don't rely on it by any means.

Advertising in tack shops is also a good idea and maybe take the staff some chocolate - tell them what you are doing ! I am sure they get plenty of new owners in preparing for their new arrival needing everything under the sun + advise, they can point them in your direction !

i did all 4 of these courses found them very intersesting, helpfull... i did mine 6 yrs ago, have owned my pony 9 yrs... didnt cost much.... £10 i think...

Recomend BHS HOC's

You'll no doubt meet a nice bunch of folk and find it all very useful and interesting...and you'll no doubt have a bit of a giggle too.

I did mine years ago (I wasn't a first time horse owner) but enrolled on the first one (just for something to do really) and actually enjoyed the course and did the others, obviously alot of the stuff I knew but it was still nice to go along and have the social side of it all, plus there was the odd thing that I learnt in the process as well as getting a taster for doing things the 'BHS way' to prepaire you for other exams.

£10.00???

Gosh that was cheap, mine were about (if I can remember rightly) £45.00 per course plus the examination fees.
