New pity pony, (neglected feet) has developed a dry cough, since we don't know yet if his feet can be sorted (farrier out Sat) can anyone recommend something to calm his cough, till we know if it's worth getting the vet out.
I know this sounds harsh but depending on the farriers verdict, he may be pts on Sat as his feet really are in a terrible state and I won't let him continue if he can't be helped, i already have 3 injured horses so vets bills are through the roof just now.
really don't need criticism, just a temp solution, the pony will get vet treatment if he has a future

Soaked hay or steamed.
you can get cheap cough medician from a tack shop which just basically sooths the throat.
But could be a serious infection, copd, etc.

Not wanting to judge but if feet are that bad (plus his coough) get a vet or farrier out now.
Why wait until Saturday?

My farrier is very good, except for answering his phone, it has taken 3 phone calls over the last week for him to respond, he's now at the Great Yorkshire Show, I've suggested he carries a diary, but he just says "give me a ring".
The ponies cough is not constant, it sounds almost like a smokers cough, if it was constant the vet would have been by now.
Quick size question, he is 36ins, does that make him a shetland or minature size
