New pony Help

Ive been out of the horse world for the last 8 years, we took delivery of my childrens first pony on tuesday this week. He came with 1 turnout rug but its been years since ive had a small pony. I'm looking for stable rugs but what weight and how many, im not wanting to spend a fortune.

He is a lighweight pony who gets chilly. He will be stabled at night when its very cold or wet but hopefully out as much as possible.

To save money I would use a turnout rug in the stable, if you get one more you can swap over if it gets very wet.

I have 4 for mine that I believe covers just about any eventuality.
Rain sheet
Light to medium weight without neck (100 grams)
Medium weight with neck (220 grams)
Heavy weight with neck (350 grams)

Also have a stable fleece that can be used under any of the above.

If on a budget, I'd forget stable rugs, the combi's dry overnight on their backs which works well, trying to dry out other ways is hard unless you've got loads of rugs.

So a medium weight turnout would be a good one to get now as we're going into winter. Possible to get by without anything else till spring

Another vote for using turnout rugs for inside. Less cleaning required and will keep your pony cleaner
