New pup constipated?

She has been really tired all day. Since I got home (4pm) til half 7, not a movement and had to be lifted outside to get her out. Not had a No.2 since yesterday as far as we can tell, although ahs weed.
A bit of a 'firm' stomach.
Now, when we took her into the sandschool she immediately did a huge one of both.
(sorry, not a pleasant post!)
Should I be concerned? Eating and drinking away.
 
She is a cairn/shih tzu. 3-4mnths
Doesn't seem to be straining, when we catch her peeing (she rarely goes outside, on newspaper or kitchen floor) she won't do it for very long if we're watching.
Gets fed mix of dry and wet puppy food. Had the remainder of a tin of adult food we got given with her this afternoon, but this was after she was reallyt ired already.
Maybe just tired or somethign else?
 
did think poss gastric torsion but shes not the typhical breed and only sign she is showing is being rather tired.

hoever are there any socks missing or any other little things? is she still eating? any vomiting?

These little breeds are more suseptible to constipation.....I have a rescue Lhasa-Apso and he has bouts of constipation.....and majority of enemas we do at work are small yorkis, Lhasas, Shi-tzu.
You need to introduce a little fibre to her diet.

Has her stomach reduced in size/firmness since she passed faeces.

I think u can safely rule tortion out

I would advice u take her to the vets to get her examined....there are a number of conditions that can cause the symptoms u describe.
 
She has perked up this evening, running like a mad thing again. Only thing is she does live in the laundry room...so los of things to eat although haven't seen any signs.
She has passed motion, but thought puppies pooed more than this! HAd three big wees since, so maybe just tired by everything?
IS puppy food not the correct thing?
 
Puppies do in general pass more motions due to the increased meals......puppy food is the best food to feed a puppy of course......you can also introduce cereal meals.....which would introduce a little fibre into her diet.

Some people feed a breakfast meal i.e weetabix or scrambled eggs.
Then a puppy food meal for dinner i.e pedigree puppy food and small bite mixer.
Then maybe another scrambled egg/cereal meal late sfternoon.
Then another puppy food meal.

People will choose to variate what and when they feed when suitable for them..you can also buy the bran/fibre to add to meals.

Is there any reason she is passing motions inside instead of outside?

You also need monitor and remove anything she could poss chew when unsupervised......as chewing and swallowing a foreign object can prove fatal!!

This should be reduced in meal numbers as the puppy gets older.

Keep a close eye on her as long as she is bright and lively as a puppy should be, eating, drinking and passing urine and faeces.......she may have eaten something she shouldnt have and found it hard to pass/caused a temporary obstruction in her bowel.

HOWEVER I WOULD DEFINATLEY SPEAK/MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE VETS..............they will beable to examine her and further advise u what to look out for incase this happens again.

Also if she is new.........as your post states!! have u changed her diet?
 
She came with adult food as woman didn't have any puppy food for us, perhaps that + all the excitement has caused just al ittle excitement?
She is much better seeming tonight, so will keep an eye and maybe have a chat with the vets.

She will be sticking with puppy food though as it just works better for us! (providing no other issues) Will see what has come out in the morning!
 
Yep defo stick to the puppy food.......I am suprised her faeces have not been loose as opposed to being constipated if changed from adult to puppy

She was on puppy (I assume) but all the woman had to give us was adult.
She is all better now, energetic, lots of motions so happy enough!
