Taken from Uptown Eventing website:

''Fernhill Urco, the stunning 8yr old that recently won the CIC*** at Barrocca d'alva in Portugal has been bought by Sue & Eddie Davies for Mary King to ride. The Portuguese bred grey, sourced by Uptown Eventing, was previously owned by Carol Gee and ridden by Portuguese rider Duarte Seabra.''

What a very lucky girl she is. I saw him over in Ireland when I went in October and he was for sale at A LOT! Winning his first 3* win a an 8yr old will have increased that. Wow what a horse!

But Mary's type?

emmiec, yes, apparently he is. there's another thread about him, and a mention that he may not come back.

Interesting you should mention Hobby du Mee, i have heard he is a very difficult horse to keep sound, i think he had a terrific farrier before, needs very carefull shoeing i think.

Hobby did have awful feet, one of the reasons he was sold from France to begin with. Austin was always very aware of his feet

That's fantastic news - I believe we haven't seen Mary on a grey for a long time! I think Kings Mistress was her last grey.

Ah, I've just remembered that she sometimes rides King Joules! *rolls eyes* I also remember that she sold a grey called King Stanley a few years ago...

he is such a good rider i thought he could go all the way with urco.he could go all the way anyway but you need good horses to do it

Hobby came from France with pads on and equithane in his feet.Credit to austin and his farrier they got to to 2 badmintons and an olympic games. He was bought with problems which were managed by Austin and sadly while the owners thought Mary would do better with him no horse wins anything in it's stable or at the vets!

If they had left Hobby where he was he would still be competing and they could have bought Mary the new horse anyway.

Well said. I like and respect Mary and felt very sorry for her about Cavvy, but there was no benefit in moving Hobby, as has been proven by subsequent events, and it's desperately unfair (IMHO) on Austin and Kathrin who had done such an amazing job of keeping him sound. Delighted for Mary about the new ride, but still gutted at the outcome for Austin.

Wow ive just seen a pic of him, looks fab! Im sure Mary will look great with him. Going to Chatsworth on the 17th and ive just read shes taking Fernhill Urco advanced instead of Kings Fancy, so will be great to see them out competing at their first 'big' event.
