Righto - I said to a few of you I would report back with EcoGold's performance.
I LOVE IT
Now, don't get me wrong, it is not going to cure the world of hunger or even turn the minature event horse into Headley Brittania (but we can dream
). But it is great.
First inspection went well. The material looks fab, and the grippy underside and top "half-pad" area looked great. Grippy but not sticky. I was also really impressed with the wither area which has a super soft silk-like material. The pressure-dispersing foam is not too thick to alter fit, not too thin to not absorb pressure.
Hacked out and did a bit of fittening work in it yesterday. I had reservations; the girth straps were a bit too high for my Butet mono saddle (FWIW I think it would fit most monoflap saddles. I have funny long flaps on mine (no sniggering the ruder ones of you out there... or HorseMad12!!!
) and have this problem with alot of saddlecloths.) It was pulling on her withers and I was not overtly happy with the fit. However after a bit of never-too-old-for-super-mummy-to-do-alterations therapy, it fits perfect (she un-picked the girth strap bit and moved it down about an inch and a half each side)
.
I was not overtly happy with having to have mummy alterations on something that cost me £100. But....
Today it was fab. Went XC schooling and it was perfec'. Didn't move an inch. The straps were in the perfect position. It was wicking-away and I was wholeheartedly impressed. Plus, it looked awesome
Got absolutely filthy and came home, sprayed it with stain-remover (sainsbury's own stuff - shifts any stains briliantly) and chucked it in the washing machine at 30 on a delicate wash. It has come up sparkling and good as new
Overall, I am chuffed. I would recommend. Am seriously tempted to get a dressage one, but need a new dressage saddle first. I won't say "well worth the £££" because for me, the determination of this will be if it still looks in as good condition after a full season. But I really liiiike
Errrr... This is a really long post about a saddlecloth. Please feel free to ignore... I get a little keen on these things
