I've just had a few inches of rubber chips (chopped tyre) put down on my arena and its so dusty I can't use it. The supplier says it is the weather being so dry. The dust is mostly the bits of fabric breaking up that are still attached to the chunks so its fibre dust but there is also a fair bit of black rubber dust. My question is: is this normal or should the rubber be just chips, no dust of any kind and I should be able to ride on it right away?
I don't think it will be rideable til its rained for some weeks at least. I don't know what to do. I tried a sprinkler on it - utterly useless as the water sits on the top of the rubber and anyway it would take days to cover the 20 x 40 m arena.
