I treated myself to a brand new saddle last year (as I have always had 2nd hand) my amazing saddler who has been with us both from day one unfortunately doesn't hold any stock 2nd hand or new so i went to a trusted saddler on recommendation from friends and trailed a few and settled on a K&M S Series Monoflap dressage. I initially enjoyed riding in but always felt i wasn't totally in the right position constantly having to readjust my leg backwards probably 90% rider problems 🤷‍♀️ I've had physio out twice since the new saddle was fitted and he has been sore across his back in exactly the same place (across the cantle area) so last week I had my usual saddler out and she has said the new one is unsuitable as he needs a different tree !! So now I am left with a new but still 2nd hand saddle that I am going to lose money on - have to buy a replacement which will cost more money not sure the point of my post just that I am so disappointed with whole episode and I was so excited to buy new :(

PS rode in my old GP last night and felt a lot "freer" in my leg and seat 🤷‍♀️

There have been a couple of threads on here recently where people have found different saddlers have had different opinions on fit of saddles and fit them in different ways. I have also personally experienced this and the original saddler was correct and the saddle was fine.

Is it worth getting the one who sold it to you to check it again? It might be that your horse has changed shape and it needs adjusting and will be ok for your horse just that the two fitters fit them differently.

Not much advise as such but going through similar, atleast your saddler agrees its not suitable... it seems to be a subjective art, hope you get sorted soon

If it wasn't that long ago you bought it I'd go back to the one who sold it and say it doesn't fit. I have unfortunately found different saddle fitters suit different horses regardless of their amazing reputation and it's about finding the one who suits you.
