Ok guys.. I have a ermm. large butt so need 18" M/W saddle, anyway looking for a VERY comfy GP saddle, dont mind second hand and not wanting to spend more than £500.00 (the cheaper the better)

So what would you recomend?
where to look?

I will get the saddler out to fit etc obviously but was wanting to know what to avoid and where to look.

Thanks

Depends on your horse - the tree needs to fit the shape of the back. Bear in mind that a M in one make is not the same as a M in another. I would ask a saddle fitter to come with a range of different saddles for you to try.

But as a starting point, I personally wouldnt use an Albion or a Stubben. I wouldnt use a wintec on anything other than a very TB-type back and I wouldnt use any of the horrible leather things being sold on ebay as being "made to measure".

If you are looking for adjustable saddles, then Saddle Company saddles can be adjusted on site, Kieffers need to be sent away to the factory.

hey you're not the only one!! I have an Albion K2 and it is very comfortable and would definitely be in your budget for second hand, the lovatt and ricketts event is also nice but only seems to fit certain horse shapes and it has quite small panels to flock unlike the Albion. Most people on here have a love it or hate it (like marmite!!) with saddle makers so your best bet is really to get a local saddler to bring a load for you to try as you will have to pay for them to come out and fit one anyway. plus what might seem soft and comfortable on a saddle stand might not feel the same on your horse. Good luck!!
