New Safety Measures For the Grand National

I hope so too, but whether they have gone far enough remains to be seen.

I love the thrill of watching the Grand National but just cringe every time they take off hoping that no-one's fallen. I don't particularly care about the jockeys...just the horses...which sounds a bit macabre but they make a choice to ride in that race.

I always remember the horse Dark Ivy that fell in 1987 I think it was. I so loved that horse, a grey... and he broke his neck. I pray that all horses come home safely on Saturday.

I hope all come home safe too.

I think what made it worse last year was the fact that you could quite clearly see one of the horses killed had been left on the track, covered, but still obvious, whereas in previous year, they normally get the horses off the track and you don't find out until the end of any fatalitlies.

I wonder if they will do the same this year?
