So the previous arrangement I had for riding fell through, which was a shame but I think the lady felt obliged to offer.

So it gave me to incentive and push I needed to look for a share and I went to meet one yesterday.

He's a six yr old ex racehorse bought for a teenager but she's still riding her 14.2 and doing really well so struggling time wise to fit both in. I get the impression they need someone experienced to help bring him on. They've got the help of a great instructor who is on their yard and was there last night and he really is very sweet.

He seems a little green but very genuine. The girl did have a tumble when he scared himself hitting a pole and shot off but it hasn't put me off.

He's very sweet little horse and I think I'll enjoy helping bring him on. He's a bit different to the other lad (19 and very well schooled and had spent his life showing people what to do) but they don't want any money just a bit of help and they're flexible with days etc. this frees me up to afford lessons which is great.

I had a tb off the track on loan through an raf saddle club when I was a teenager and they're a very similar stamp. I think I'm going to enjoy it which is fab. Not ridden him yet but I like what I see.

Great news Atlantis. Hope this one works out for you. My share is working out well so far. We were having issues with mounting but yesterday he let me get on at the 3rd attempt and stood still! All my previous mount ups took ages and resulted in him running off as soon as I got on:eek: So having bought a 2nd hand saddle for him and having pointed out that his bit was far too big yesterday and so hopefully will now get him sorted with a correctly fitted bit as well. He's got a lovely temperament and although older than the one you'll be riding he's not had much schooling to date and has been ridden in poorly fitted tack. Ive got him to myself next week so I will carry on with his ground work and I suspect that I'll be switching him to a simple bridle without grackles and martingale to see how he goes.
I hope that I can, like you, get him schooling nicely with some help from my own RI. Keep us posted :)

TrasaM that sounds great. it takes a while to get to know horses doesn't it and Roth the owners thrown in with a sharer even longer. The people were all really nice and I'm excited about it.

I think there are mounting problems with this lad too but very common with ex racers.

We'll have to continue to compare notes :)
