New stables at home - lots of photos

Beautifully planned. I love the covered area and the big open storage - all very smart indeed. I bet you are happy OP.:)

Thank you, I'm so pleased with them. When we bought the property it had planning permission already in place for a yard and arena and it was tempting just to crack on and build it. I'm so glad now that I took the time to work out exactly what I wanted and reapplied for planning permission as this layout works so much better for me.

WOW! The whole set up looks lovely and is very smart- i particularly like the walkway to the arena.
Thanks for posting all the photos, i LOVE seeing what other people's yards look like. :)

These are beautiful! We are the other way round, had to build the house before I could even think about the stables (well actually I did a lot of thinking about them before the house was build, but we won't tell my hubby that!). Love seeing the pics, it is always interesting to see how others have utilised the space and terrain they have!

Mine are almost there but it is a much smaller complex than yours, plus we don't have an arena...yet! Hope you recover soon.

Very nice yard set up, maybe you could 'all weather surface' a small space in the middle for turnout? Can I ask what black paint you used as mine need revamping soon...?

I was thinking I may need to use it as a small turnout area in really bad weather so concrete could get very slippery in icy weather. I hoping with hay bars at the back of the stables and only me mucking out etc that it won't get too messy but with horses mess is a given.

When I looked at the view from your bedroom window I was thinking that was exactly how I would plan it. You could actually let them use the covered area (leading to the school) in the summer, too. Or winter, for that matter, but I imagine that would get messier!

Beautiful, just beautiful, what a lovely place to be able to hide from the chaos of renovation. I love the walkway to the arena (which also looks splendid).

Lovely lovely yard. I have mine at home too and built the yard from scratch. Not quite as posh as yours, but similar, and can't afford the arena yet. We, on the other hand, have been living in a house full of dust and rubble for two and a half years..!!

I love the dark stain on the stables .
There's nothing better than having them at home it was one one of the best days of my life when I bought my horses here it's twenty four years ago .

The area from the back of the stables to the arena fence is a sand and stone mix so the horses can stand there in the shade in the summer.

The stain is Protek Stable Coat. I had a bit of a heart attack the morning the stables arrived as they were light golden brown and not the black specified on the planning application. The builders very soon had them stained black and are doing a second coat so with the two coats of golden brown stain they should be thoroughly protected.

It'll all be worth it in the end. We've been climbing over furniture and boxes and ignoring the grotty walls and floors and lack of lights in the downstairs of the house but at least the horses live in luxury now. Fortunately we have a shower upstairs as I can't bring myself to use the bath in the grotty downstairs bathroom. The hot horse shower on the yard is preferable ;0)
