Hi all, I have just bought a new thoroughbred mare who has been turned away since coming out of racing. Bred a foal 4 years ago and hasn't really had much done since. Feet look like they've just been left, but the guy we bought her from had them trimmed a couple of days ago. She looks like she might have decent feet when they are back to full health...but at the moment she has some pretty big cracks and they will need good frequent trimming to rebalanced them.

Question is - what supplements/feed/licks/topical treatments do people swear by for improvement in hoof quality and growth?

I would like to start doing some groundwork etc with her asap but she's currently quite sore where she's had to have them trimmed right back so it's something I want to try and alleviate

Thanks for reading :)

Kim

I see the best results when I use the for forage plus performance balancers there are summer and winter versions .
Hoof boots are a good idea they will get you get started .
I spray the soles and frogs with iodine the type with alcohol that they use for lambs my farrier recommended trying this ,it's cheap and easy to apply and hardens the soles as well I think it works as well as keratex and it's much cheaper .
