New to hunting... need some help!

Hello,

I live in gloucestershire and I have just got a 16.2hh italian sports horse on permanent loan and I am interested in starting hunting.
I was just wondering how I start to get involved, where to go and what to do etc? any info would be great,

Hi!

First things first... find out who your local hunt are (Use the MFHA website if necessary) and get in touch with them to find out what they've got going on at this time of year.

go along to as many rides, hound exercises etc as you can with your horse so that he gets used to being around hounds, you get to learn a bit about hunting and make new friends, and you get to see how he's going to react to all the excitement!

then, when autumn hunting starts, make the effort to go along. The early mornings are worth it!

feel free to ask questions, as many as you like, we all had to learn somehow!
