Hello :) I'm moving up to Newcastle in a month, and was wondering if you lot could help me!

I've not ridden regularly for over a year so am a bit rusty and want some decent schoolmaster lessons to get me back in the swing of things - can anyone recommend anywhere local please? Not got own horse to ride so would need a riding school or similar. Will be living in Forest Hall area but happy to travel up to an hour for somewhere really good :)

Also are there any websites/Facebook groups/tack shops where people advertise loans or shares? Much as I'd like my own, work means it can't happen right now but I've previously shared and ridden for others and could provide references.

Lastly, if anyone local ever wants a spare pair of hands at a show, fence judging etc please do PM me. There are others on HHO that have met me and can vouch that I'm relatively normal ;) :D

Thanks in advance.

Hello *waves*

I've had lessons at Hagg Hill (swalwell nr Metro Centre), not high level schoolmasters but might a good place to get you in the swing of things, Yeb De Jong used to do lessons on his own schoolmasters but doesn't anymore or would have recommended him.

There are a couple of people on our yard that have shares up for grabs occasionaly but it might be a trek for you? I'm sure plenty will whip your hand off for help!!! :D

Groups on FB to try -
South Tyneside Riders
Northern Neddies
Riders North East
Durham dressage
(probs more but can't remember off top of head )

Could also try neriders.co.uk too :)

Hope that helps :D

I would recommend cote hill riding centre between Newcastle and Durham. It's a small yard that has its riding school licence but you are riding Joanne's own horses

Hi
Just along the road from you, literally about a mile, is Firtree Riding School, I had a really good jumping lesson there when my horse was lame last year.

I think the fb groups mentioned are best place to look for shares.

I'm always looking for help at events so if you want to come along with a numbty your very welcome.

The riding club I'm in BBDRC, on facebook is also normally looking for helpers which is a good way to meet people.

You're doing the opposite to me, then! I'm a northerner living in Cardiff! ;)

Me and my sister may be looking to rent out our cob within the next couple of months on a full loan basis for a year or two. She just has a field in Boldon at the moment but would be happy for him to move back to a yard within commuting distance. PM me if you'd like details.

Thank you all v much for your help and suggestions :)

I spotted Firtree on google maps when looking up my new house, good to know its recommended. Will google the others too, and join the facebook groups!

Vodkagirly - will look up your RC and give you a PM when I'm settled to take you up on helping out at a show :)

SatsumaGirl - I'm actually a Londoner living in Cardiff at the moment, work takes me all over! Unfortunately won't have time for a full loan, looking for a share really, but thanks anyway :)
