Hi everyone

I've been a lurker on the forum for years but having moved to a new area with my young horse just under a year ago I'm now clueless as to what there is around here for us to get involved with! We're at a fantastic livery yard trying our hand at dressage at the moment but once I get my confidence up to scratch I'd like to get out hunting again (I say again, I haven't actually been for 10+ years!). He's a cobby sports horse and I know he'd love it, although I might have to upgrade his snaffle for our first few outings!!

I wonder if anyone knows any hunts local to me and their style of going or a website which would help me locate one? When I was younger and braver I went with north staffs but I'm looking for a more leisurely group this time I think! I keep my horse in Epworth so anywhere around there, Scunthorpe, Doncaster etc is reasonably close.

Thanks!

The only other one I can think of is the Grove and Rufforth. I'm Holderness area and don't think they come out as far as you. I did once buy a hunt coat of someone who hunting with York and Ainsty South who lived at Howden so might be worth contacting the Sec to see if they do have more southerly meets. Good luck.

I kept my horse in Belton and hunted a few times with the Burton. They mainly meet either side A15 north of Lincoln which isn't too difficult to get to. They also had a couple of meets close to Gainsborough. They were very friendly, some jumping occasionally but never anything drastic. Otherwise there is also Grove and Brocklesby.

I would have thought G & R is quite possibly closer but as Aramis said the Burton is probably worth a few extra minutes on the road. Very friendly, welcoming and a fantastic day out with generally good country, good chatty company but we do have some great socking ditches to negotiate but there are plenty that do not jump them and there are always ways around. Had 5 days with the Grove about 4 years ago and really didn't enjoy the atmosphere. There is the Readyfield BH too fairly local?

Epworth will be badsworth and Bramham country, rockwood is further towards barnsley. Burton don't come too far north of Lincoln, grove run north of Gainsborough South of Doncaster so won't be too far? Personally I would go with BBMH, they are a very good bunch, I've had some great days with them.
