So last night when I was schooling Leo I took my feet out of both stirrups to stretch my legs and he stopped, I nudged him on as I put them back in.
When I'd finished schooling him I did the same thing took my feet out of both stirrups and he stopped, so evidentially I've taught him accidentally that me doing that means he stops so I can get off, what I'm not sure of is if it's a good thing or not?
Thinking along the lines of getting unseated and loosing both stirrups, is it a good thing that he stops, or is it a bad habit that could develop and something that I need to stamp out now?
Thoughts? :)

My horse used to do that! Never developed into any kind of problem, I quite liked the fact if I lost my stirrups he might stop! I never did anything about it, and it actually seems to have stopped itself.

I used to ride a games pony who would slow down and stop, as she knew feet out meant rider off. It was all fine, till I lost both stirrups mid race :D

What does he do if you do no stirrups work? Or if you give him a nudge after taking feet out?
So long as he doesn't stop dead, I wouldn't see it as a major issue, but wouldn't encourage it either.
