New yard and strange antics....

I moved to a new yard last week and I have noticed a strange trend amoung the current DIY liveries they all WASH their wheelbarrows after use....? Is it me or is this weird ? I am the dirty one obviously as my barrow get used and put away with poo stains still in it (shock horror) they are all really lovely people but have this strange obsession I mean its a wheelbarrow is it not supposed to be dirty...?
 
I hose mine out if I'm then going to stick haylage in it to put in the stable, or haynets in it to move about - pretty manky not to IMO. If just mucking out or it is all dry, then nope, but straight after mucking out before putting forage for the horse in, yes.
 
Can see your point with that one although so far I've only seen them put em away after use. Never seen this before so just a bit strange to me - nowt wrong with being clean I suppose but my pink barrow is slowly going brown lol!!
 
Personally think its a bit of a waste of time unless maybe they use their wheelbarrow for hay too and want it uber clean for this. Although horses eat grass which is on the floor so again bit weird.

My wheelbarrow gets cleaned twice a year when everything stable wise gets disinfected.

Love peoples different ways my friend puts vinegar on her horse to keep flies away. I have no idea if this works but she (the horse) smells foul/edible. :D
 
Ha Ha have to admit I make my own fly spray which includes white vinegar plus other things so guess I am guilty of that one. Have to say tho my homemade stuff works better than any of the citronella free stuff I have brought!
 
I dont wash my barrow out either and my shetland is such a dirty little mare she has her hay on the floor and she will poo in it every night! so a bit of poo in the barrow when i chuck her hay in i dont think bothers her to much!
 
I've not heard of that one either, but our wheelbarrows all have covers on them though (a BRILLIANT idea - save so much time sweeping!) so you don't really see the mucky barrow underneath.
I did consider giving my pink poo-picker a clean the other day, you can barely see that it's pink any more! You have inspired me, guess what I'll be doing at some point this weekend? lol
 
I have been on a yard where people not only washed their wheelbarrows out but also washed their horses when they came in in night in winter. Not only did they wash the mud off their legs and give them mud fever but they washed the mud off the outside of the rugs before taking them off for the night.

Needless to say i was the muddy one!
 
A few years a go a new lady at our yard washed her wheel barrow every time she used it!

We thought it was weird!

Im with you, my orange wheel barrow has a permanent brown stain in it!
 
I occasionally wash my barrow out but only if its mega manky or I have poo picked some very fresh poos - I keep it in my feed room and it stinks a bit otherwise. Only a few times a year though.

I sweep my yard broom under the hose to clean the poo and wee off it and also rinse my orange shovel thing. Anal?? :p
