So, I went today to meet the YO who is a very, very famous SJer and olympian and I'm sorry to say a complete kn*b. I hated him on sight. I thought he was arrogant and rude and those are the nicest things I can think to say about him. Cue weepy phonecall to my mum who told me to pull myself together, go back to the yard and shamelessly namedrop my uncle (another almost-as-famous SJer). Utterly scandalised I replied in a shocked whisper that couldn't possibly do anything so naff! But being my mum she made me swear I would, and cringing with embarrassment I did as she asked... Blow me down if Arrogant Knob didn't turn into Smiling Gentleman!
God people are SO shallow!!

Anyhoo, have given notice at current yard, had blazing row with Fabian who saw me sobbing on the phone to my mum and wanted to know what was wrong, then 'comforted' me by saying "Stop CRYING!" in a stern voice (Men! why can't they just pat you on the shoulder and say "There, there"??) I got a bit snippish

with him to which he said I was a "Loca de mierda!" (in the gentlest terms; a crazy woman) so we erm... exchanged words

I think we've pretty much made up though... hard to tell but he asked me to feed horses tomorrow so he must've thawed a bit.
So that's that; I'll soon be rid of the jealous, ignorant hordes who have nothing better to do than whinge about how much better PF gets looked after than their horses, query why she has more bedding (I buy it!), wonder why she has her own turnout pen (I bought electric tape, posts, etc!), I'll be rid of the YM who forgets to buy oats, the school that gets washed away when it rains, etc etc.
I'll still be going back to ride Antifaz, feed Dumas the cat and give riding lessons, so why am I so down about it?

You will settle in just fine! Glad you are making the move as the new yard sounded so much better in your other post!

The part that got me is that they clean your tack DAILY!!!!!

I know you said that PF is happy where she is, but she will be happy at new yard too. She may be even more happy with a less stressed and more relaxed mommy!

Wish you a wonderful and easy time settling in! TAKE PICS!!!!!!!

Are they going to let you paint her stall pink? LOL

Aw you'll be fine PF, really you will. I hope this yard turns out to be lovely and you settle in quickly.

Don't forget the old saying "it's not what you know, it's who you know" - most people use this at times

What will you rant about now? ;~)

Very good question!! I expect I'll be ranting about all the same things but with reference to Antifaz!!
I expect SOMEONE won't be happy with me using the facilities when I'm not paying for them... *sigh*

It certainly appears to be that way!! How very cliched!!
Still, handy to have a well-known SJing/Eventing uncle, isn't it??

For some reason I think it's a VERY big deal, moving yards. More so, even, than moving house. I really don't know why this should be, but I think there are so many things to consider: will the horse be happy, settled, will other people look out for him/her, dangerous things/plants in new yard, horsey companions, facilities; and then there are the new people, fitting into the yard politics, finding places for stuff etc. etc. Yes, it is a very big deal, and very stressful.

Sounds like you are having a tough time, PF, and I hope that your move is a smooth one and helps to solve the problems you have been having. Nowhere is perfect, unfortunately; you can only hope to choose the best place you can. I hope PF will be happy with the change - which is really the main thing, isn't it? I think you must have been very unhappy with the old place to move, and I hope everything improves for you

I think the worst part is knowing I might not be allowed back if anything should go wrong at this yard. There's really no reason to think it will, but there ARE no other yards in the area so it really is almost the end of the line (there is somewhere else I could go that's very good, but rather further away)

I think you're doing the right thing PF & there's not much you'll miss about the old yard really, is there?

Of course, you'll still see Fabian (oh, did I say Fabian, I meant Antifaz obviously, yes, yes, Antifaz!) when you go over to ride!
