I have turned my horse out every day in his paddock and he is now a bit of a bog pony. He went ballistic day one then less ballistic then a litlle less ballistic followed by a couple of v quiet days.
On Friday the horse opposite was brought in and no others were out. He jumped the post and rail smashing it as he went broke a post and smashed the rail. Had a phone call to tell me he was in his stable.
Went down and took him to the hose to discover he had scraped his stifle but otherwise unscathed. Let YO know fence was smashed and was told dont worry it will be fine.
By the evening it was repaired and when I asked what shall I do tomorrow she said just chuck him out he'll cope. She was right he did explode and cantered back to the post and rail a few times measuring it up and decided against it. Today he whinnied a lot but then settled (Fingers crossed I havent had a phone call yet).
My nerves are now frazzled (they were before) and with the worry of this on top of my parents I am a bit of a train wreck. I have lunged him for a couple of days and a friend sat on him on Friday evening (he wasnt lame).
I sat on him for 5 minutes afterwards and yesterday I lunged him and then got on but I felt like throwing up and as soon as two girls went to turn their ponies out near us I got off quick. I did walk trot and canter but it was obvious the poor lad could sense my nerves.
So my horse is settling in slowly but I am feeling pretty rubbish.
