As some of you may know, I am planning on moving to Scotland next year to live with my OH. He agreed that he was happy for me to bring my girl with me, as he already has twelve horses of his own (ten of them shared with his father and grandfather). Although they have a yard with five stables and a jogging track, it didn't look likely that I could keep my girl there as the stables are usually full of horses being broken/trained for racing, and even if there was room his father might not be happy about having an 'outside' horse there, potentially carrying viruses etc.
They have several fields, one of which is located two minutes walk from his house and has a shelter. We both agreed this would be suitable not just for my Big Ears, but also for his two girls (he's kind of breaking away from the family set up so that we can set up together). This morning he said he's been looking into 'developing' an area of the field, in order to have a small yard there. I know there's a million and one things he needs to take into consideration and plan, but he's getting the ball rolling now so that by the time I'm there we'll be able to get things moving a lot quicker. The whole purpose behind this, according to him, is so that I can have a yard. He felt bad that Big Ears and me weren't able to share the facilities that are already there, so rather than make do with what is there in the field (which, tbh, I was perfetly happy with), he thought it was time to do something.
This is nothing more than a gratuitous I LOVE MY BOYFRIEND post really. He told me not to get too 'high' (as in, excited, and not on drugs or anything), because at the moment it's just a basic plan. But when I visit in March he wants me to visit the field with him and formulate a real plan. He's also going to approach his father (who wants to cut back on the number of horses he has, and his involvement in racing) about taking over the current yard and track that they share. That way there's a possibility that we will have a racing yard, and a 'riding' yard (I may have already acquired a second horse to go with my Big Ears - oops).
Watch this space - I could be back in twelve months time asking for ideas on the layout, and all the little things that I might need (but will probably forget) to include!
In the words of another poster on here somewhere earlier in the week: SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
