So, successful move to a new yard on Saturday, so far so good! But... I took the hay from the old yard that I had left over, enough for about 2 weeks. I filled 7 haynets on Saturday, and had enough approx for another 7. Gone to the yard this tonight, went to get my hay and noticed the sack I had the spare hay in is almost empty, not enough to fill 1 net, let alone 7! I dont want to make hassle there, especially not in the first week!! But someone has obviously taken it! Do i say anything, to people I hardly know as yet, or just stay quiet? I am thinking, stay quiet and dont rock the boat!!!

I would say something - is there a yard owner or manager you could speak to about it. It may be a perfectly innocent mistake or they know that they have someone pilfering. I was on part livery once and someone came on DIY. I found her taking bedding out of my stable's banks because she thought that was where the spare bedding was kept!

I wouldn't stay quiet or all of your stuff will disappear. I would tell the YO and possibly put a not on the noticeboard that there has been a mx up and the sack of hay was yours, please could the missing hay be returned.

The reaction from the YO and to the note would decide whether I would stay there or not.

I have been in a yard that tolerated pilfering, it was exhausting. I ended up with hay and feed in my garage at home. And mice.
