Just moving to new yard. Can you help?
How much roughly is large bale haylage? hay?
Would you be able to use up a large bale with four horses one on box rest and other three out in day, without it going off? [haylage i mean]
Also does any one have a rambo duo ? Do you like it? cant decide between one or a normal winter rug? Thanks

the price of bales is so so variable with location, i got lucky and paid £17.5 for large bale of hay (10small bales in1). i paid £14 for same size bale of straw. thats about all i can contribute to your questions sorry - oh it takes ages to go off, hay, straw or haylage you should be fine!

Large bales of hay are approx £18.00, large round bales of haylage are anything from £22 to £25 +. With all your lot, you will easily use up the haylage as a large round bale will last up to 2 weeks after opening (much longer than the small bales). One word of warning (and forgive me if I am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs

), your horse on boxrest would probably be better with ad lib hay, as haylage may well be too nutritious.

thanks for advice. I think he will be ok as we are moving so he can go on the horse walker twice a day as advised by vet and he is very laid back any way. Others all competion horses so wanted the haylage really. Cant wait to move.
