Middle aged mum with an OTTB - not the plan but we're rolling with it as she's such a great natured soul. Horses all my life but TB's are a different kettle of fish and I have more questions than ever these days.

Lurked for years but decided to make an account, so

Hello all!
Hi,I'm just new as well and a fellow ottb owner and a middle aged mum,tho I prefer recycled teenager lol. I think my mare may be a strangles carrier, hence opening an account. I've never had to deal with this luckily but I need all the advice I can get at the min 😔 it's an absolute minefield out there

Oh hello!
Nice to cyber - meet you!
Frustratingvablut her being a strangles carrier. Did you have to do the gutteral pouch test?
We've recently changed stables and everything is feeling unsettled. Wish we had our own place x

Nice to meet you too! It's not confirmed yet,we only went to vets yesterday so they've taken 2 swabs. Maybe she's not a carrier but I've convinced myself that's what it is. She's kept here at home luckily tho she's with my nearly 30yr old cob. She's been with him 2 weeks after she came here. Kept her quarantined for the 1st 2 weeks but she seemed fine so put them together,so now she'd get very stressed if they were separated. If the cob were to get it I think he'd have had it by now.
I'm not sure I could go back to livery now,I love it here,it's as rough as a badgers ass but it's home. Plus it means I can go out in the morning in my jammies and sort the nags. What's not to like lol
