I never thought I'd see the day that my thirteen year old daughter would want to hunt. We have been to some meets before, on foot, but yesterday we went to the SUrrey Union meet at Oakwood Hill. She loved it so much that she is now taking her pony to the kid meet on the 2nd January and is already trimming pony in preparation. She took him hacking this morning practising keeping up with my big boy and has gone out again this afternoon with Jack Russells in tow so he can get used to dogs. Well done the Surrey Union. It was a wonderful turn out and spectacular and hopely all will go well at my daughters first meet and you will have a new recruit.

My 13 yr old daughter has just started going hunting too. She's been 3 times now - including Boxing Day meet - she is loving it, and her pony is loving it too.

He is jumping everything in front of him, even some of the bigger stuff some of the horses are refusing. In fact the Field Master has already commented on how well they are both doing.

I'm so proud of her.

I hope your daughter gets on well on the 2nd. Our hunt seem a good frinedly crowd and when she fell off last saturday, several people stopped to help her back on and make sure she was ok.

Ah that sounds lovely, what a sensible idea to take the dogs out and get her pony used to them- I did that with my young orange boy when I first bought him and you wouldn't believe how much is prepares them for it, dogs are a scary thing to have running about a horses feet if they have never seen them before, best of luck to your daughter on the children's meet :) r
