Hi Everyone!

I've recently picked up riding again after not riding for nearly 10 years! (I'm 23 now) I've only been riding for 3 weeks, but I'm already walking/trotting/cantering/jumping and confident to walk and trot without stirrups.

I'm currently riding 3 times a week (an hour each lesson) and I've enjoyed nearly all the lessons I've had. (The ones I haven't enjoyed so much have been ones where I'm the oldest by over 15 years and I have to slow my pace down and I don't feel like I'm learning as much) <-- I'm going to talk to the instructors tomorrow about finding me a lesson where I'd fit in more age/confidence wise) - I'm a bit stuck on that, I've only been riding 3 weeks and I don't want to seem rude.

I love the yard, everyone is friendly and patient and always answer any questions I have. The Horse I ride is fantastic, he's so forgiving if I make a mistake, but is cheeky - but as long as I hold a whip in my hand he's an angel, I don't even have to use it on him. He has a tendency to lead me over jumps too, when I haven't asked him! <3

Anyways, Hi!

Hi, I was in the same situation last year I started riding again after a long break from having my children. I amazed myself at how quickly it all flooded back and fell in love again. I too got fed up of riding school lessons (don't have much choice of riding schools). I think the horses were overworked and bored so spent a lot of the lesson bieng told to 'kick kick tap' which I loathe. My aim for the lessons was to eventually have my own. So I had a few individual lessons and learnt more from those maybe you could try 2 lessons a week on your own sometimes half an hour is enough, however I don't think you truly learn to ride till you have your own (may not be very refined yet but have learnt to have a sticky bum. :) lovely to hear someone coming back to it but be warned this time last year I was horsey free and now have two of my own... Remember it's your money your spending and going three times weekly you should be getting what you want from your lessons, I'm sure no one will think your rude. Also you don't want lessons bieng rushed better to master the basics. We are both the same age I wonder what twigged to make us start riding again?

I would avoid riding schools if you can- they're full of dull, unwilling horses and stiff as a board riders! See about a part loan/share, you'll learn a heck of a lot more and will be able to learn from the experience of the owner of the horse! Plus if you're lucky you can get double the riding for roughly the same cost as lessons at a riding school... Good luck!
