Newbie saying 'Hi'

Hi,

I just thought I'd say hello to everyone.

I've signed up here as I'm a single dad with a daughter who loves horses, and so far I think I've got away with pretending to know what she's talking about. So I thought it was about time I made some friends who might fill in the gaps in what I know. If it's got four wheels I'm fine, hoofs/hooves (sp?) I know nothing about.
My daughter has been riding for about a year and a half, and by watching her lessons I think I know what the school are attempting to teach her, but I've got no-one to bounce off if you catch my drift.
I'm in Medway by the way, if there's any of you out there in that area, give me a wave.

I have ridden a horse though, just for an hour this year when we were on holiday. I felt I'd at least picked something up

Hi jumpmeister and welcome. Some more important things you need to know about horses: (1) soon, your daughter will want her own (2) they are hideously expensive (3) a horse can cause itself £3,000 of veterinary treatment just standing quietly in a flat field for half an hour (4) a horse needs a bigger wardrobe than either you OR your daughter (5) after a while, it's not just the horse that smells of poo, it's the daughter, the car and the house (6) after 25 years of learning all there is to know about horses, you will still have another 500 years of knowledge to absorb and (7) this Forum is more addictive than (insert own habit here)!

Come on girls - what other critical things does jumpmeister need to know about horses?????

Haha too true but you missed out that once daughter wants her own horse she will want transport for it too!

I've already come to the conclusion that we won't be owning a horse in the forseable future. It's a daily discussion.
As for learning, if horses are anything like pre-teen girls, I'll agree, I've still got centuries to learn.
