Hi everyone, I have been lurking here for a long time (years actually) and have finally got around to posting.

I am currently 'horseless' after having my horse put down in April this year.

I read the thread about horses not selling with interest as I have been looking for some time and am finding it really difficult. I don't mind paying the right money for the right horse but I want what everyone else wants and they sell like hot cakes.

welcome :) what kind of horse do you want then? as for me, I only want Andalusians and still keep lazily checking out every ad despite getting my own a month ago :D

Hi and welcome!

Sorry to hear you lost your horse, I know how it feels as I lost my horse 3 years ago. I have been looking for another horse ever since, and 4 months ago, the right one for the right price came along. I guess what I'm trying to say is never give up, it took 3 years for my lad to come along, but it was well worth the wait! :)

I am looking for a sane, straight forward 16-16.2hh, allrounder, gelding, 7-10 years, no thoroughbreds. I have spent the last two years with a horse on box rest on and off before I finally had to admit that she wouldn't ever come sound. I tried to put her out to grass and retire her but it just wasn't working. Cried today when I saw some thistles in flower as she loved eating thistle flowers. Now I want to horse to go out and have some fun on after a very stressful couple of years.

Welcome! I had to put my mare to sleep at end of June so I know how you feel.

I was wanting exactly what you are and I ended up buying a 15.2hh 7yr old ISH gelding who has done a bit of everything. I've sat on him once since getting him and my saddle was slipping so i'm going to wait till my saddle fitter comes out before I ride again as it was really unbalancing me. But it is so weird riding a 15.2! His strides are so choppy compared to my 16.1 mare's! I really hope I can get used to him though.

When I was viewing horses they either had big paces which I didnt like or short choppy ones.

Good luck finding what you are looking for!

Thanks JoJo.

I have tried a couple of smaller horses but I have quite long legs and even though they can carry my weight I feel a bit under-horsed. Obviously it depends on the build as some horses take up more leg.

I have ridden all my life and have been a happy hacker with weekly lessons/schooling sessions over the last 10 years. Now I want something I can go out and about on and have some jumping lessons. I am a confident rider hacking and on the flat but need something that will give me the confidence to go out and do some jumping, pleasure rides, working hunter maybe and dressage. I am not getting any younger (wrong side of 40) hence wanting something sane and sensible. I have done my time riding nutters and don't want to do it again! I don't bounce very well these days.
