Hi all, I'm new on here.

I've recently moved to Dundee, Scotland, to start a PhD at the university of Dundee. I'm getting horse withdrawal though as I haven't really ridden since I moved at the end of september.

So as a side note if anyone knows of anyone who is looking for a share/part-loan in the area let me know. I'm an experienced rider who has been riding for about 16years and have ridden a variety of different horses, types, ages temperaments over the years. Ideally looking for something close to Dundee but I do have a car so can travel within reason. Especially for the right horse.

Looking forward to getting to know people a bit better,

:-)

Hello and welcome!

Two years ago I would have been calling on you to ride my ginger boy; I was doing a postgraduate course at Dundee and was finding it difficult to keep him fit! Not there any more though. He was stabled in Longforgan (1/2 way between Dundee and Perth).

It's not a particularly 'horsey' area although we had Inchcoonans Equestrian just up the road from us which held plenty of competitions. Have you joined the Uni riding club?

Thanks guys,

And Rhino I would have been right there with you. Your ginger boy looks lush :).

I haven't joined the uni riding club although I have toyed with the idea. I did team etc when I did my undergraduate degree in Aberdeen and don't want to get sucked into doing lessons at a riding school as I don't think I would get much benefit from it and there wouldn't be much room for improving.

I'm hoping to find something but no luck so far so just keeping eyes and ears open. There are bound to be people in a similar situation to what you were in especially given that Dundee has to Universities as well as a college. It's just a question of finding the right horse/owner combination.

Trying to stay upbeat about it though.

Welcome to HHO - and to Dundee hope your studies go well.
Can't help you with the horse - sorry - far to far away.

Don't give up on the Riding Club idea - you may have heaps of fun, when I was living in UK the school I worked at had a few Riding Clubs come and ride with us, they had heaps of fun and it wasn't just follow my leader around the school there were many riders there that had had to leave their horses at home. It was also very social - we would often go to the pub after rides.

I made some long term friends from these groups. Recently caught up with a couple of them in person when they visited NZ.
