Hi the first horse I bought was 30 years ago as a 3 year old, we had her all those years until recently. And have been riding a friends old faithful till he retired in the winter. I purchased an 14h 11 year old cob in august. Did bonding groundwork etc as had no manners. Riding is fine gets a bit jiggy but not dangerous. Went on a 5 mile pleasure ride at the weekend, first time out in the box and somewhere he's never wirh a friend who I ride with. Was going fine until a mile from the end and a horse that was playing up came from behind, passed and from then he thought he could do the same, jigging about constantly turning round, but being a total idiot. He jumped one way I went the other and came off. Wasn't hurt. Tried to get back on wasn't having none of it
So walked him the last mile back. He was the Sam with me on the ground walked sideways to keep looking behind and turning round in a circle. The last mile, pleasure it wasn't. His back teeth have been check etc . I'm now in my 50s and aa bit apprehensive, not fearful of when I get back on him. Was thinking of asking someone with more experience to go on him and see what they think the problem is and how I can sort it. Please don't be judgemental. Thanks

I think we had all worked that out but I agree he probably just found it all very stressful. He needs to keep practising but preferably in a very quiet environment.
