Riding/Lessons/Hacking/Anything wanted: Nr to Newcastle Upon Tyne

I am looking for a horse to ride, maybe somewhere to have lessons or one which I can have fun on and jump.

I have had 2 riding lessons at a local stables recently and after riding since the age of four and having my own horses at home it just is not the same, and seems a complete waste of money: we do not get to canter, or jump and he talks about how to get a horse to halt for half of it! I know all of this!

Does anyone have a horse they want ridden? Or know of somehwere I could have a lesson on a good jumping horse.

I am 20 yrs old, 8'2" and weigh 8 stone 11. I am a very good rider, capable of jumping 3ft3 courses with ease, like horses with some go! Am good at riding naughty ponies too!

Thanks look forward to any advice!

I think it just depends what riding school you go to. How far are you willing to travel? If you want i could pm you some places that you might be interested in, and places to avoid.

You could also put up some adverts in your local tack shop :)

Take it you're not really 8'2"??! I would put an ad in the paper or up at tack shops. The Yeller (the yellow free ads) used to be very well read by horsey fraternity in the north east. Perhaps use other words/phrases to describe your ability other than 'I am very good' which may come across as sounding a bit full of yourself (and I am not saying you are!!). I used to live in Durham and I got a lot of offers for various horses throgh the yellow paper. Give it a go!

Typo sorry i am going mad! I am actually a small 5 foot 2!!! ha!

Thanks can you pm me the good ones and bad ones.

I am not around much longer (June) and do not know any tack shops around!

Thansk for advice. fingers crossed someone on here might live near and know

ALSO: Would competent confident rider sound better?

Definitely!! Would still go for advert, someone will be keen for rider coming into Spring. Ivesley used to be good for quality of horses, worth a shot?

I will pm you about some of the places I know about. Good and bad!

I think Ivesley has closed (at least the riding school part, may still be livery) :( Its such a shame they had some lovely horses and definitely some that I would have wanted to take home!

(I could be wrong though )
