Hello,
I'm a relative newcomer to hunting, 15 years old, and I'm hoping to go out with the Old Berks later this season, or failing that, next year. I have a number of questions for all you hunters out there, and really would appreciate some general advice. I don't ride very well (yet), and don't have my own horse, so I'd most likely have to be a foot follower - which is fine.
Being a foot follower, I don't have a car - will this be a problem? Is a car needed?
Also, does anyone here go with the Old Berks? Are they friendly? Will they welcome newcomers, or will I be abandoned (Just abit worried about that).
How much will it cost for a day's hunting If I'm a foot follower, and how do I find out/make arrangements? Do I just turn up?
Is there any specific clothing required from foot followers?
Many thanks and sorry about all these questions!
Please do respond, even if you're only answering one or two of my questions, or if you'd rather do it by Message.
Thanks!

Your BEST bet would be to join the Hunt Supporters' Club - see http://www.oldberkshunt.co.uk/affiliatedorganisations.html

This will give you a chance to go to a few social functions and meet people - and will open doors.

Don't just turn up! All hunts ARE a bit suspicious of strangers! Clothing for foot followers is your own choice - but I would suggest VERY comfortable footwear, warm clothes - and waterproofs!

Foot following is often a bit hard without a vehicle - as horses may 'cross country' at speed. But if you make a few friends first, there'll always be someone willing to give you a lift, when needed.
