So I have signed myself up for a newcomers meet!!! It has been on my list to try hunting but definitely not ready for any full scale! I am going to join the Lauderdale newcomers meet later on this month. I contacted them who have told me we are only out for a couple of hours, at a steadier pace and that the rails, fences etc are all optional (I would like to jump them all but anything that looks too big I will go round) so it all sounds not too scary!!!! I am excited! Any tips. She just said dress smart and for the weather. I was thinking beige jods, black or brown boots (I think I prefer my brown for jumping but my black ones are a little smarter) fleece shirt with a red tied (will this be ok?) and my green, brown shades tweed riding coat. Black hat. Very excited (and a little nervous eek)

Clothing sounds perfect. Have a ball!
Just remember to always point your horses head at hounds, and if he might kick a red ribbon, and if he hasn't been before a green one. I he wears red you need to stay at the back.
Have an amazing time and we need a full report afterwards.

Thank you! I will be on a hireling. The contact I have hires for hunting regularly and I am requesting something that knows the job and won't give me too hard a time lol!

Woohoo am so excited that it’s hunt season again. Hireling sounds like a great idea. That was my first experience and it was awesome. We did have a few hairy outings after that as the guy who we hired from had a few ahem lively/green types, but luckily I always nabbed the more sensible ones!

Your attire sounds fine to me. Plus Body protector if you’re jumping but it’s optional.

Check and check! Will my standard riding gloves be ok? They aren't particularly smart but are warm and comfy and do the job?

Should be fine as long as they aren't bright pink or something! Black, brown, navy, tan, beige etc are all acceptable. I believe brown is correct with tweed but it doesn't matter.
