Anyone else here get slimed all over on a regular basis and wear more hair than their dog..??? :D:D:D
Just wondered if there are any other people on here owned by Newfoundlands..??? I have 2..Magnus is an almost 5 year old brown boy (12.5 stone ) from a Newfie Welfare group and Gulliver is 8 months on Thursday black and 7.5 stone :D
I also have an 8 year old black Standard Poodle, Zeus :D

Yep we do we call it ectoplasm like on ghost busters. She is 6 and sadly on borrowed time due to a hock problem which no one knows what happened but one day it will just give way. Its one of her many problems, but we love her all the same. She is big girl tho, bigger than most boys and weighs in at 13 stone with not an inch of fat on her!
She was full clipped last summer as groomer b*ggered up- she looked so ridiculous i would never recommend that even if it did reduce the moulting!
I have a 15month old lab who loves her to bits- they play together so well he runs all round her so she doesn't have to and then he curls into her belly! I honestly think he will be heartbroken when her time comes.

I am a fellow Newfoundland-owned person. I have an 8 year old landseer bitch, weights about 50kgs so not big for a Newfie but big enough! I've had her since an 8 week old teddy bear. They are the best dogs ever in every way!!

Thanks she is so sweet which makes it worse.
She is huge for a girl and very long too.
Aw missieh yours sounds a nice size! We got ours at 12 weeks she was like a mini cocker

Sorry to hear about your girl I have had two lovely newfoundlands a dog and a bitch. Dog was huge weighing in at 15stone and not an ounce of it fat he stood waist high on me so about 3 ft to his shoulder he was a grand lad but had a strange behaviour where he would lock out and just keep running until he fell over something I loved him to bits he died aged 7 in my arms after a trip to the vets on the way home he collapsed and died before we could get him back to them
The girl was again a big tall girl very lean and fit and was PTS in my arms aged 16 and at the time was one of if not the oldest living newfoundland in the country we did competitive obedience with her and showed them both fairly successfully but we were really pet owners so not in the face group which is as bad if not worse than the horse world
Owned both from 8 weeks old and would have them as a pet at anytime but they need space growing up and we now live in a tiny house.
I found they were the best dogs ever as once grown they ate very little in comparison to a working type dog as they also preferred short non energetic walls too Their favourite spot was on the floor acting as draught excluders against the door or if they could on your lap

Wow wind and rain 16 is an incredible age and i doubt its been beaten.
Yes that's a breed trait- draught excluder she also likes to bend her head round the door frame at same time weird girly

Yes she was 6 weeks short of her 17th birthday and still largely speaking as fit as a flea but I always swore that if she couldnt come on a walk and be happy I would let her go. the day she was PTS she ran down the garden to me and her front legs gave out She couldnt get up very well and after that her walk became a trial to her so she quietly went to sleep that evening
She stood a good 6ft on her hind legs she once was asleep by my side when I fell asleep too a friends husband came into the house I woke to hear my name being quietly called and the dog had her paws either side of his head (he was 6ft4in) and she was growling in his face. She was a wonderful dog and I miss her everyday and she has been gone about 20 years now.
Always wanted a painting of them together set against a lake in autumn wont happen now I dont suppose

She sounds wonderful. I love my two boys soooo much...I cant believe ot took me so long to get one...!!! :D
My Standard Poodle boy is my dog of a lifetime and I know I will never have another Poodle after him but the Newfs are "my" breed, they suit me to a T :D
