Hi Everyone!

My partner and I both have a day off next week for his birthday. We are planning an early rise to go and watch the horses on the gallops at Newmarket. We are also going to visit Palace House and have lunch, etc. Neither of us have ever been to Newmarket before. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or recommendations for things to do or see in the area.

Thanks

National Stud & Godolphin are great idea.. i’ll have a look, thanks!

KatPT - we planning to leave extra early.. about 4am to be there for 6am to catch them. No point missing it all. Thanks.

My daughter has just started working at Newmarket for the compass group! She is loving it! We went down in August for five days to see her! Palace house is a must! We got a season ticket which was around £5 more so took two days to look round! They do a fab demo from RORH charity and I loved the racehorse simulator! The National stud tour was brilliant and needs to be prebooked but not sure whether there will be lots of mares/ foals out at this time of year. Maybe do some research first! Even my non horsey husband loves Newmarket! So amazing to see horse's crossing the main road! Enjoy 😊

not sure if judmonte to visits but they have an amazing foaling yard where all the foaling boxes are round. it's beautiful. when I went final straw was standing at stud.

Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all your suggestions!

We went over on Friday - took 2 hours to get there but had an awesome day. It's like Carlsberg built a town for horses!! I thought it was hilarious watching the ROR demo at Palace House with TK Maxx in the backround :D

We watched a lot of horses on the gallops in the morning and got talking to a trainer who was lovely and took time to chat to us.

Definitely will go over September time when they all have their open days and will be a whole lot busier. Lovely way to spend the day though.

Thanks again!
