Hi guys, as promised here’s a report from my yard move on Monday.

Quick summary, my friend has been running a livery yard in a place about 15 mins from where I live. On Monday she took over the lease of a new fabulous yard 3 mins from where I live so we all helped moved her business there on Monday.

I got up early to go to the old yard – it actually felt like Christmas day!! :D:D I was so excited. I arrived at about 8.30am with the intention of riding first so I brought Pony in from the field and tacked him up. Everything had been packed up and the stalls were bare and he seemed a little on edge. I decided last minute not to ride at the risk of him being stressed when he moved. He did look a bit peeved though - wondering why I had brought him for “nothing” but there was no point putting him out again. If he could say “humph for goodness sake what AM I doing here?” he would have :D:D

Anyway, about an hour later I got him out of his stable and put one of his travel boots on his back leg. Well, he did not like that one bit . He spent the next 30 seconds ferociously kicking the thing off. With one last kick it came off and flew across the yard  He then looked at me innocently as if to say “sorry about that but it just wasn’t working for me.” :D I was surprised at his reaction to them to be honest but I took the hint and left them off.

He loaded straight away, no problems whatsoever :)– especially as I had left his favourite organic mint treats hanging out the back of my jeans

He travelled well with his field mate. I drove behind the trailer all the way to the new yard and witnessed him, on several occasions, leaning over and nipping his mate  His method was “I’ll have some hay, ah there’s an ear I’ll have a nip of that....” I did chuckle (quietly to myself) :D

We arrived at the new yard; he unloaded fine. We stood around for a few minutes so he could get his bearings – he was very alert but I could see he trusted me :). Both me & Pony and my friend with Pony’s field mate then walked them up to their field to greet the other two horses who had been moved in the first load (Welsh D 15h3 and another 17hander). My little Pony is 13h3. Anyway, I opened the gate and my friend’s horse just bolted off with her hanging on for dear life. He dragged her half way across the field  Thankfully the sound of her screams got fainter the further away she got but I think she was ok :p :D

For the next 30 mins I watched Pony take each horse out one by one  He was a like a bowling ball and they were the skittles. I was absolutely shocked by his behaviour :( He had managed to pin one of the big horses to the back of the field and if the other one even came close to him he would charge at them! Thank goodness I decided not to have him shod! He was seriously dominating the herd – small man syndrome methinks

Here’s him after the first horse….

He wouldn’t let me catch him for the rest of the day either. Must have been something to do with the knee high grass!

So all in all a bit of a crazy day. Pony is now fine and settled in well. He lets me catch him now and I have been lunging allot to counter balance the amount of grass he is eating. I am bit concerned so I have been watching him like a hawk. He is getting a little big for his boots and I think I may have to nip that in the bud if it continues. I will put it down to moving about allot recently. We’ll see how it goes.

Love it!!

Lot of grass you have, but more importantly a wickedly cool looking pony! (Think he knows it too?!)

What an attitude the little chap has! :D
He is very cute!
Glad the move went well, and hope they're all settling in well!
