tried a hanging cheek today on his no luck still strong (couldn't buy a grackle as had no fulls! had about 7 cobs though) so i tried gag on 2nds hoop still strong then i tried on 3rd again still strong so not quite sure what to do, tried him month ago with German hackamore my old horse wore and it worked but he reared/refused to go forward with it so i don't know whether to try him again on it or see about another bit

Sorry I haven't been following your posts, does he have much schooling? Has he learnt to give in the mouth? (eg, drop head/come in outline), I would work on getting him to do this, from the softest aids possible, in a snaffle, as it will make him soooo much easier to control, rather than resorting to stronger and stronger bits, which often horses will just fight even more.

yeah trying to! hes very excitable in school and has allways been strong he is well schooled not his best thingbut he will go into a outline after fighting for 20 mins to walk nicely

hes 16
