Just got my renewal through and for years Ive paid for LOU, or thought I had!! and have decided this year to find out how much it was and get rid of it. I remember last year thinking the same, checking my policy and not seeing it LOU written anywhere. I rang them last year and was told I did have it. So today renewal comes through and yet again no mention of LOU. Theres a break down of how much things are costing but not LOU. I dont think my policy is cheap at £470 but always thought I had LOU. By the way horse is only insured for £2300 to keep premiums down.
Has anyone else got LOU with NFU and if so does it state it anywhere on your policy?
I cant even find it in the policy booklet sent although to be honest I havent read it word for word.

Yes I have LOU for my boy and it states it clearly.
The premium is over £1.000 and half of that is the LOU so I would think that you do not have it
My horse is insured for £10.000 and had to have 5 star vetting.

LOU is not cheap so, if you have vets fees on your policy then at that premium I wouldn't think you have LOU cover no.

We are with NFU and have LOU it clearly states it in the policy book on a page of its own which also explains the terms of cover. We have him insured for less than he is worth (£5k) to keep our premium just under £1000.

I would check up on it as it could have been removed at one stage on a renewal to try to keep the price competative in the hope you would not notice the difference (just like they do with your car insurance).

yes 1 of mine has LOU - shes insured fro more than £5k and had to have a vetting done, what with her and 2 others on the policy (1 alreay claimed LOU and 1 not old enough for LOU) plus plenty of tack my premiums are approx £1500

Thanks for that. I dont know why but I feel a bit mad

I rang up last year over this and they didnt seem to know much about it and eventually got someone to ring me back whio said I was covered for everything.
I will ring tomorrow and see what they have to say. I definately used to have it, as Ive claimed for it on my last horse.
As for me thinking my policy was expensive, I will shut up.
