Sorry, just want to have a bit of a moan. I have insured with NFU for quite a while and have always found them very good, but just had my renewal through for the horse insurance, and they have "improved" the policy, which at first glance looks to me as if I am paying more for less cover. They have asked me to review the market value of Murph and pony. Admittedly pony is 20 but she is only insured for £800 and as she won leading rein and veteran championships at 2 local riding clubs last year I don't think she is over valued. Murph is 16, insured for £3000, he is 15.1, a safe hack, hunts, x country and show jumps, the latter with quite a bit of success at local level, does that sound a reasonable price. The insurance now excludes any condition they have ever suffered from even if no claim made previously, which I suspected would be the case as they ask for veterinary history, but now have it in black and white.
I had already decided I probably wouldn't renew the cover on the cushings pony, doubt there is any illness she is covered for and only kept her covered so when the inevitable happens I would have something towards disposal costs, but as premium is £350 and they only pay £250 its a no brainer, would be better off saving a bit each month and hoping she is with us for a long time yet.
