Nice horse, dodgy dealer.

I know someone who got a lovely horse from a dodgy dealer, and cheap to as the dealer did not recognize what he had.
So certainly would yes with correct receipt etc. you get dodgy private sellers to, with no comeback.
If the dealer is actually selling a decent horse then how are you supporting his dodgy dealings!

You say that the bloods are fine, I take it that you have had them run for NSAID and any other drugs that you feel should be checked for. This is very expensive. I paid £264 last year to have bloods run on a horse I bought from a "supposedly" reputable dealer and it came back positive. This was onto of the vetting fee.

I am afraid if I was that concerned about the dealer I would not buy from them. However, if you have got as far as having the horse vetted and you like him make sure that you have something in writing to say that if this horse is not "fit for purpose" it will be coming straight back and that you will have a full refund. You are protected by law when buying from a dealer but it can still be a very pain staking task when it all goes wrong as I well know. Fortunately my husband is a lawyer and took the dealer that conned me to the cleaners.

Good luck with the horse and I hope it all turns out well for you. Let us know how you get on.

As someone's said before..... Depends why the dealers dodgy?

Sold the wrong horse to the wrong person...... Well that's the buyers fault for wanting an inappropriate horse in the first place!
Won't take a horse back cos the buyer over estimated their abilities.... Well that's the buyers fault for wanting an inappropriate horse in the first place!

Un-noticibly drugged a horse to con a buyer into buying the horse....now that is a dealer I don't trust!

Take everyone with a pinch of salt (sometime a tablespoon full) and only believe what you see! If the horse matches what you want, you are experienced enough to see past any 'wool over the eyes' that the dealer has pulled, and believe the horse has been honestly presented....then I don't see why you can't buy the horse!
