Yes ,sad, but he was with his owner and had a good retirement unlike some of the racehorses in America I’ve been reading about.. their death rate for flat racing is unbelievable …

His owner wrote a lovely statement about him. She sounded devastated

Wasn't Barney the horse at Carl's yard that reversed into a brick wall and demolished it?
He looked like he was a fun horse to work with. Such a shame - my horse is that age and I'd be devastated if I lost him thinking it was still quite young.
At least he was enjoying his retirement with his owner before his passing.
