no bot eggs at all this year? anyone else noticed this?

Not a single bot egg this year - I hadn't actually thought about it until this post - we usually get them.

However, horseflies were practically swarming earlier in the year - blasted things

North Cambs: no bots, no horseflies. The only other horses (or indeed any livestock) are nearly a quarter of a mile away and the only years I have had problems with bots were when horses moved in one field away. I wonder if they have only a very short flight range?

For all those who say it is too late for bot flies, sadly it isnt in Gloucestershire - my boy had some a couple of months ago, then none for a while, then came in covered in the foul things yesterday

Think I am going to be sick - they sound really disgusting.

I have never seen one, perhaps they don't happen in Ireland (have owned horses over 20 years). I have a TB with hardly any fur on her legs, so am SURE I would have spotted some by now if we had them.

I'm in East Devon and was just remarking last night that there haven't been any bot eggs to remove in ages. Not that I am complaining

We haven't had Bot Flies Ever! That's on 3 different yards in the Wakefield area. Perhaps they are like nits - more attracted to some hair types than others. (Some kids are permanently infested with nits, others seem 'immune')

Nope none at all here either, though we have had no cows about locally and everyone nearby worms regularly so maybe they have been wiped out! Or climate change could be good for something?
