After several years on this forum, I am constantly amazed at the number of people who come with a problem and say that they have no contract. For loans, sales, livery yards, etc. etc.

I would have thought that there have been enough awful experiences being told and re-told that anyone in the horse world should have learned by now that it is so vital to get things in writing!

mmmmmmm, well often there is an implied contract or a verbal contract, so no need for a written contract in many instances, but what good does a written contract do when the main difficulty is getting what you pay for.
I have been repeatedly attacked on this forum for insisting that I am in the right, in that a contract was agreed and not fulfilled., apparently that is unreasonable.... look out for my [unwanted] following which will tell you quite a bit about unfulfilled contracts.
oh by the way contracts with livery yards are composed by the yard owner and not by the customer, so they tell the customer what is required but do not tell the customer what they will get.
If you can find any yard which will sign up to a customer's written demands before they take a horse to the yard, , I will eat my skull cap!
