'No gadgets' advert

Just a tad confused.

There is a nice advert up at the moment for a pony who is snaffle mouthed with no gadgets. However the photo is in a martingale... which I would call a gadget? The bit also looks more than a snaffle but photo too small and blurry to confirm.

So just, would you call a martingale a gadget or not?

Personally I think no gadgets is bridle, bit (or bitless) and saddle. No flash, martingale etc.

Also depends on the situation - if the photo is from a team sport training session like Horseball /polocrosse etc it is standard and compulsory to use a standing martingale. The same may be true in other less common disciplines...
