8 year old, cob x, plan to hunt him and do dressage.

Apparently he was on stud balancer at his old home - not sure why - I thought that was for young horses? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just want a nice all in one feed to give the boy enough energy for the job and all the mins and vits he needs.

Have been giving him alfa a and a handful of course mix so far but he is lacking a bit of enthusiasm!

Mine are on Allen and Page fast fibre and good haylage or hay, if needing more energy they can move up a level as required, it is a good complete feed that is low sugar and starch.

Who ever you ask will probably give you a different answer, there are so many feeds out there and different combonations of feed.
To get it in perspective ask yourself some questions.
What weght is he? Fat? thin? just right?
How fit is he?
How much excersise does he get?
Is he out 24/7 ? or in?
How much of his intake is forage, ie grass, hay, hayledge.
I beleive in keeping it simple, feed hay and grass as main feed and hard feed onley for extra weight or energy.

Over winter he will be on limited turn out
He gets ad lib good quality hay
His weight at the moment - I'm happy with
He is worked most days either schooling, or a fast hack.
He will hunt once a month and do dressage
